Booking flight tickets online has become the norm for many people. However, with countless google search and ticket price comparison sites to choose from, it can be difficult to know whether or not you’re really getting the best bang for your buck.

Here at Domestic FlightsSouth Africa, we have gone the extra mile to ensure that you’re able to fly that extra mile without overspending on your budget, which is why we are known for being one of the most trusted flight comparison websites in the country. We like to think that our portal is just as user-friendly and effective as the Google Flight Search portal itself (not yet available in South Africa).

In an effort to make your flight booking process even easier, we have put together a handy guide on how to use the Domestic Flights-South Africa website.

Domestic Flights-South Africa: How To

To make use of the portal, you’ll need to start by visiting our home page. From there, we’ll need to know if you’d like to book a one-way ticket to your chosen destination, or a return flight. In the first block, enter the airport code of your departure city, or the name of the departure city itself and, in the second block, the appropriate airport code of the arrival city, or the name of the arrival city itself.  Next, we need to know your chosen date of departure and, if you’re booking a return flight ticket, your selected date of return. We’ll also need to know the number of adults, children and infants who will be flying with you – this data can be entered by clicking on the final block, just before the ‘Search’ button.

To narrow your search down, we have more options available to you. You can view these by clicking on the ‘More Options’ button located right underneath the data-entry bar.  Here, it will be possible to choose your preferred cabin, preferred airline and whether or not you want to book a rebookable flight (i.e. flights that you can rebook without having to fork out a hefty penalty fee).

If you’re flexible when it comes to your travel dates, you can also select whether you’d like the search results to display flight options for3 days ahead or before your selected departure and arrival dates.

If you’re happy with all of the data that you’ve entered, simply click on the ‘Search’ button and our system, just like a google flight search, will gather all the available flights for your perusal. If you have a decent internet connection, this search should only take a few seconds.

The resulting page will give you all of the available flight options from all the major local and international airlines. By default, our system will organise the flights from the cheapest to the most expensive. However, you can choose to filter the choices according to other criteria including:

  • Fastest
  • Earliest departure
  • Latest departure

Worried that you’ll be able to Google search cheaper flights? Fear not. We offer you a best price guarantee – in short, you’ll know for sure that you won’t be able to find a cheaper flight ticket anywhere else.

Once you’re satisfied that your results are being sorted according to your preferences, you can then take a closer look at the details ofthe flights on offer. Each flight offering will include the following important information:

  • The airline offering the flight
  • Departure time
  • Departure airport
  • Total flying time
  • Arrival time (along with any time zone changes)
  • Arrival airport
  • How many stops, if any, you’ll be making on your journey
  • Cabin class
  • Flight ticket cost

If you’re still having trouble deciding which flight to choose, you can narrow your search down even further by navigating to the left-hand side panel. Here, you can set your exact price range, choose your preferred cabin class, as well as the number of stops that you’re willing to make. If you have an airline, or a handful of airlines, with which you’d prefer to fly, you can also indicate this here. Furthermore, you can let us know your chosen range of departure times according to your schedule, too.

Once you find a flight that ticks all of the boxes, click on the ‘View’ button for more information concerning flight numbers, luggage restrictions and details regarding any stopovers that will take place on your journey. All good? Then navigate to the next page by clicking on ‘Continue’.

You’re almost there! Now all that you need to do is provide us with your personal details, as well as the personal details of each member within your travel party. We need to know your title, first name, surname and cell-phone number. You can also supply your email address if you’d like to receive your flight details via email. If you’d prefer to receive flight details via SMS, there’s a box to check beneath where you have entered your cell-phone number. Please note that this option will cost you an additional R9. Frequent flyers may also enter their frequent flyer number on this page.

Before making payment, there’s an option to upgrade your flight to a rebookable flight. This popular option makes it possible for you to change your flight up to 24 hours before departure. It also means that you won’t have to pay any penalty fees in order to do so. Please keep in mind that if you decide to forego the upgrade, any changes to the dates on your current ticket will be charged with the difference in ticket price and airline-specific penalty fees will also apply.

Remember to take a moment to read through the Domestic FlightsSouth Africa terms and conditions before clicking ‘Continue’ and moving onto the payment page. Once there, you’ll be able to choose your preferred secure payment option after which -the cheapest online flight tickets will be yours.
