Lift Airlines

Book Lift Flights Online

Lift Airlines was established in December 2020. This new South African airline called upon the public to name their new domestic flights South Africa air service. Thousands of names were submitted, but only one name could win free flights for a year.

While telling your friends and family that you’re catching the “Gravy Plane” or “Planey McPlaneface” is sure to make them laugh, “Lift” has a more sophisticated ring to it. The airline company is operated by Jonathan Ayache, Gidon Novick, and Global Aviation in South Africa. Gidon Novick is the founder of Kulula Airlines, and Jonathan Ayache is a former Uber executive.

Eight different South Africans submitted the name ‘Lift’. The company chose this name because it reflects optimism. And so, the main prize of free flights was divided between the winners who now have their hands on plenty of Lift tickets for a year. These lucky winners names’ were also inscribed on the body of Lift’s first aeroplane that took to the air.

But deciding on the name was only the beginning. Behind the scenes, the Lift team made sure the airline was ready to take to the skies just in time for Christmas in December 2020.

Choosing to Fly Lift Airlines, South Africa

Lift aims to be a flexible airline that operates in a similar fashion to Uber, with flight schedules being determined by demand and popularity. What differentiates Lift from other domestic airlines is that they have a fully flexible ticket option. This allows you to change or cancel your flight without airline penalties.

Plus, their small fleet size promises a level of efficiency that the larger airlines can’t afford to give. With Lift, Mzansi has more ways to visit family, head to the sea, or travel for business.
