South African Airways (SAA) has for the 14th consecutive year snatched the Skytrax award for Best Airline in Africa, voted in and determined by loyal SAA passengers who have experienced and enjoyed the continuous exceptional service provided by the airline. In addition, SAA added to its list of accolades the Coolest Domestic Airline so voted by today’s youth and from the International Yacht and Aviation Awards, the airline received a design award for its new VIA Lounge at O.R. Tambo International.

Connecting Africans with Africa, the airline celebrates 20 years of successful service to capital city Accra and 25 years to Nairobi. These imperative routes have unlocked doors for holiday and corporate travel, business opportunities and safe passage for family visits.

Additions to SAAs African Route Network

Opening the doors even wider in Africa, travellers can fly from Johannesburg to Gabon and Benin with SAAs new routes. Starting this month SAA will be flying from Johannesburg to Libreville on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays, connecting to Cotonou (that resolves the cancellation of flights between Pointe Noire and Cotonou at the end of July). Flight to these additional cities further enhances business interests and opportunities including tourism for both countries.

South African Airways

During July, SAA and Mango took off on the Johannesburg/Cape Town route using sustainable bio-fuel made totally from tobacco, and home grown. Making history, these flights were the first ever for the African continent and achieved only through SAAs ardent commitment to sustainability and going green.
